Interim wins for the KGSA campaign

Posted on March 10, 2013

We have had some exciting developments over the last few weeks in the campaign for further postgraduate space that I thought I would take some time to update on.

Firstly the campaign was endorsed unanimously through the Your Union Zone making it part of Kent Union policy for the next year. Then we had a paper I had submitted read at Graduate Studies board with three of the four recommendations accepted that has now seen the access to Woolf foyer and seminar rooms increased to five nights a week, the agreement for students to be employed to assist in the setting up on the foyer social space and initial agreements from high up for an open access computer room in Woolf.

These are only Interim wins and we have regularly stressed that the numbers on this campus require a full graduate center to cater for the postgraduate population, something that the university appears to acknowledge. These initial wins do, however, represent some important steps forward for this campaign.

If you are a postgraduate student at Kent who would like to support the campaign, please sign this petition –
